Bill grew up in suburban Cleveland, Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree from Ashland University in 1971 and his law degree from Capital University in 1974.
While in law school, Bill worked as a clerk in the legal department of the Ohio Industrial Commission. After graduation and passing the Ohio Bar, Bill then worked as a hearing officer with the Industrial Commission. Because of this early exposure to the Ohio Workers’ Compensation system and the compassion he gained from his work experience, Bill focused his legal practice on representing injured workers from the very beginning. When he and college friend Jack Allen, who had also been a hearing officer at the Industrial Commission, left their positions at the Commission to venture into private practice, the bulk their work was representing injured workers’ throughout Ohio.
The small firm expanded and evolved to what it is today – Mitchell, Pencheff, Fraley, Catalano, & Boda Co., L.P.A. While the firm now represents Ohioans in a wider spectrum of legal matters, Bill continues to limit his practice to Ohio Workers’ Compensation with a focus on injured workers.
Bill has been given an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, meaning that his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence. And he has been named by CEO magazine to their Top Lawyer list from 2009 to the present. Bill has served on the Workers’ Compensation Committees of the Ohio and Franklin County Trial Lawyers Associations. He is presently a member of Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations.
Bill lives in Columbus with his wife Karen. In his spare time he enjoys golf and Ohio State athletics.
